Application Overview - MIAGE Application for Summer 2010
The Admissions Committee carefully reviews an applicant's combined academic and professional background. The Committee will evaluate each application with an eye toward the applicant's writing and analytical skills, both vital to success in graduate studies. Consideration of your application includes:
- Academic background including undergraduate transcripts, academic recommendations, and performance on the graduate school entrance exam of choice.
- Professional experience including work experience, internships, professional recommendations, and volunteer and community service activities.
- Completion of the program pre-requisites: introductory statistics, microeconomics and macroeconomics (with a "C" or better grade).
- Evaluation of the content of your letter of intent (or personal statement). The Admissions Committee will also use this document to assess your writing skills.
To be considered for admission, applicants must submit the following items by the March 1 deadline:

- GRE or Other Standardized Test Scores
- Personal Statement of Purpose (a.k.a. Letter of Intent)

- Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- For International Students from countries where English is not the native language, TOEFL scores are also required. TOEFL scores should be submitted to the Graduate School with your application.

CHECKLIST FOR SUMMER AND FALL 2010
Beginning the admissions process
- Undergraduate GPA of a minimum 3.0
If the undergraduate GPA is not at or above 3.0, a letter of appeal should be submitted with the MIAGE Supplemental Application - Official GRE, GMAT or LSAT score
The MIAGE program accepts the GRE, GMAT or LSAT test scores for admission. It is recommended that the test be taken well in advance so the scores will arrive for admission consideration prior to March 1. The University of Utah provides testing services for graduate entrance exams; please contact the University Testing Center at http://www.sa.utah.edu/testing/ for more information. - Prerequisites - Entering students must complete the following courses at the university level with a grade of "C" or better before beginning (not before applying to) the MIAGE Program:
Undergraduate Statistics
Microeconomic Theory
Macroeconomic Theory - Recommended Prerequisite - It is recommended (but not required) that students entering the MIAGE program have completed a university-level course in business or public accounting.
- Co-requisite - Students in the MIAGE program must accomplish second-year language competency of a second international language beyond English prior to completion of the program.

Include official transcripts. Contact previously attended colleges and universities and request official transcripts be sent to the Admissions Office at the address above. Transcripts should arrive no later than December 15 (summer admission) February1 (fall admission.

- Letter of Intent - The personal letter of intent should include your interest in entering graduate study in international affairs and global enterprise, any experience in the field and your related career goals. Please keep the statement to two pages in length and include your name on each page. Submit the letter of intent by March 1.
- Letters of Recommendation - Please submit three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your academic and professional abilities. At least one letter should be from an academic reference, preferably a former professor. Please use the MIAGE Recommendation Form.
- Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae - Submit a current resume or curriculum vitae by March 1. Please show all previous work, academic courses, community and extracurricular activities.
We do not require an interview for admission, however, students often find a visit to the school to be a very useful tool in their decision to apply and/or attend The University of Utah. Contact the program manager for more information or to make arrangements for a visit.
