Admission Requirements
The University of Utah Master of Science in International Affairs and Global Enterprise will help you deepen your understanding of the global context in which businesses, governments and non-governmental organizations operate. You will gain the knowledge and the skills to analyze global and geographic area-specific social, legal, political and economic issues as well as greater multicultural understanding of the various environments within which organizations function.
We seek a diverse pool of applicants who aspire to learn, practice and interact in a supportive, yet rigorous graduate program designed to help you achieve. We admit MIAGE students representing a variety of undergraduate majors including business and the social sciences. We also admit students with diverse professional backgrounds, including those who work in business, for government, in NGOs, and those coming directly from their undergraduate studies.
We accept students to start the program for fall semester only. Things you should know about the admissions process:
- The application deadline is March 1 for the following Fall semester (i.e. March 1, 2009 for admissions Fall semester 2009).
- Admission is selective.
- No specific background or undergraduate major is required.
- Completion of GRE or GMAT examinations (LSAT also accepted) is required.
- The TOEFL will be required of students for whom English is a second language (a TOEFL score of 600 is required).
- Prerequisites to be completed before starting the program: Undergraduate Statistics, Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory.
- Recommended Prerequisite (not required): Business/Public Accounting.
- Co-requisite: Second-year language competency of a second international language (beyond English). You may complete this during your time in the MIAGE program.
- There is a mandatory new student orientation before fall classes begin.
Students are admitted to the MIAGE program for the fall semester, which starts in late August. All applicants must:
- Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Establish eligibility for admission to graduate standing at The University of Utah.
- Obtain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (B) or more.
- Submit all MIAGE application materials.
The MIAGE Admissions Committee carefully considers an applicant's combined academic background and work experience in determining admission into the program. There is no minimum entrance exam score. Admission is competetive.
